In a significant event scheduled for March 9th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the majestic 125-feet tall Mahabir Lachit Barphukan statue in Holongapar, Jorhat, Assam. The unveiling ceremony comes amidst PM Modi’s visit to Assam, where he is slated to attend various election campaign programs.

PM Modi’s itinerary includes a stay at the picturesque Kaziranga National Park on March 8th, followed by a thrilling Jeep safari the next day within the park’s confines. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed optimism regarding the tourism prospects of the Lachit Barphukan statue site, stating that it would soon become a premier tourist destination. Additionally, he highlighted the expected surge in international tourist interest in Kaziranga National Park following PM Modi’s visit.

The Assam government has christened the statue “Birattor Stambho,” meaning brave statue, signifying the valor and legacy of Lachit Barphukan. PM Modi is also slated to address a public gathering at the Melengmeteli Playground on March 9th, following the inauguration of the Lachit Barphukan statue.
